On June 30th and July 1st, 2024, the World Hwa Rang Do Championships took place in the beautiful Italian Province of Tuscany.
A truly historic occasion in the history of Hwa Rang Do.

Starting off with Shibum (Demonstration) Juniors Division (8-12 years), Flavia Misson Bellucci and Isabel Hazizaj performed a mix of acrobatics, Hwa Rang Do Self Defense Techniques and Open Hand Form. With the warrior spirit, they won against Hwa Rang Do Roma Centro Academy.
Continuing with the Adult Mixed Divisions (13 years and up), Luxembourg competed against three other Teams from Italy. Luxembourg performed a powerful but beautiful Weapon Fighting Sets with different Stick & Sword Fighting Techniques. The ending set showed a gracious fight with the Jukdo (Long Sword) between Kyo Bum Nim Roberto Cesca, who is leading the Hwa Rang Do Club Luxembourg aince 2019, and his assistent Instructor Aurรฉlien Benoit.

The National Team from Luxembourg came away with great surprise of winning all three categories and the title of Overall Team Champion.
The Luxembourg National team was fighting in three disciplines: Yongtoogi (Stand up Striking Quick Submit Fighting), Gotoogi (Submission Grappling), and Mugi Daeryun (Weapon Fighting with Sticks and Swords). Each 5 member team consisted of four men and one women and in order to gain the overall victory, they had to win two out of the three categories of fighting.
Hwa Rang Do Genova Academy and Hwa Rang Do Rome had to fight in the Semi Finals first where Hwa Rang Do Genova Academy secured their place to challenge the defending Champions. Due to Luxembourg having won the Overall Grand Champion Title in 2019 (Italy) and 2023 (Luxembourg), Luxembourg had to defend their title against Genova.
In the Team Finals in three disciplines, Luxembourg won with the most matches out of five matches.

The rather young Hwa Rang Do and Tae Soo Do Club from Luxembourg is led by Grandmaster Taejoon Lee, eldest son of Hwa Rang Do founder, Dr. Joo Bang Lee. He holds the world’s highest degree with the 8th Dan Black Sash and is the Heir to Hwa Rang Do.
